Dr. K.S Krishna Kumar, a distinguished plastic surgeon, completed his MBBS and MCh from Trivandrum Medical College and MS from KMC Mangalore. He pursued advanced training in the UK, achieving FRCS in Plastic Surgery and joining the UK Specialist Register. Additionally, he completed a Hand & Microsurgery fellowship at the prestigious Christine M. Kleinert Institute in the USA. On his return to India, Dr. Kumar established the first modern plastic surgery unit in Malabar, which quickly gained renown for handling complex cases in microvascular surgery, cancer reconstruction, and hand injuries. His dedication to innovation led him to introduce health tourism and launch an advanced burns unit, which has saved numerous lives through pioneering techniques such as “early excision & grafting.” A highly respected trainer and examiner, Dr. Kumar has lectured internationally, becoming the first Indian plastic surgeon invited to Pakistan’s national conference. His contributions to global health are further highlighted by his active participation in international charities, including “Operation Smile,” where he has conducted free surgeries for underserved communities. In addition to his hands-on work, Dr. Kumar has been awarded multiple accolades in both local and international platforms, including best papers presented at the New Zealand and British Aesthetic conferences.
