What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a “nose job,” is a surgical procedure to reshape or reconstruct the nose. It can be performed for cosmetic reasons to improve the appearance of the nose or for medical reasons to correct structural issues caused by birth defects or injuries. The surgery involves reshaping the bone, cartilage, and skin of the nose to achieve the desired look or improve functionality.
Rhinoplasty can address several concerns, such as:
- Reducing or increasing the size of the nose
- Changing the shape of the tip or bridge
- Narrowing the span of the nostrils
- Adjusting the angle between the nose and the upper lip
Benefits of Rhinoplasty:
- It improves the overall shape, size, and symmetry of the nose, creating better facial balance.
- Rhinoplasty can correct structural issues that may block the airways, resulting in better airflow and easier breathing.
- Many people feel more confident after rhinoplasty, as it can help align their physical appearance with their aesthetic goals.
- It can fix abnormalities such as clefts or deformities caused by accidents, helping to restore a natural look.
- Better airflow leads to more oxygen reaching the blood and brain, which can reduce stress, improve sleep, and enhance overall well-being.

FAQ's
Here, we’ve answered some common questions to help you understand more about rhinoplasty, the procedure, recovery, and what to expect. If you have any further queries, feel free to reach out to us for more information.
Rhinoplasty usually takes between 1 to 2.5 hours, but more complex cases may take longer.
Most rhinoplasty procedures are done with incisions inside the nostrils, so there are no visible scars. In some cases, a small incision is made across the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils), but the scar is usually minimal and hard to notice.
Initial recovery takes about 1 to 2 weeks. Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes usually subside after 2 to 3 weeks, but full recovery and final results may take up to a year as the nose continues to heal and settle into its new shape.
Like any surgery, rhinoplasty comes with some risks, including infection, bleeding, scarring, and anesthesia reactions. Other risks specific to rhinoplasty include nasal blockage, asymmetry, and difficulty breathing, but these complications are rare when done by a skilled surgeon.
The results of rhinoplasty are usually permanent. However, it can take several months to a year for the final shape of your nose to be visible as swelling fully subsides.
